Yankees fan ejected for disorderly conduct draws comparisons to Detroit actor Tim Robinson

Real life got so surreal at Tuesday night’s World Series game that some viewers felt like they were watching Tim Robinson melt down on an “I Think You Should Leave” skit on Netflix.

In the first inning of Game 4, two New York Yankees fans interfered with a foul ball catch by Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts — a stunningly bad move by ticket holders. One of them grabbed Bett’s glove and knocked the ball out of it.

Immediately two things happened. One, both fans were removed from the game for their wildly inappropriate disruptions.

And two, people on social media began comparing the moment to a skit from Robinson’s Emmy-winning Netflix sketch show β€” and the man who threw the ball away to metro Detroit native Robinson.

“I can’t explain it but he has such Tim Robinson character energy…”, tweeted @jessica_smetana.

“This legit looks like a Tim Robinson sketch,” wrote @CespedesBBQ. “‘GIVE ME THE BASEBALL.'” And on it went.

And it went on. β€œTim Robinson, no!” he growled @MikeBeauvais.

“New Tim Robinson character just released,” announced @GaryJackson.

Maybe it’s because Emmy-winning Robinson so brilliantly portrays men who are immature, desperately frustrated and patently wrong in “I Think You Should Leave.” as in the classical piece about the man in the hot dog suit trying to pretend he wasn’t driving the hot dog truck that just crashed into a shop window.

As the sausage-clad Robinson says in the line that has inspired a million memes, “We’re all trying to find the guy who did this.”

Fact Check: In real life, Robinson is a well-behaved Detroit Tigers fan who frequents games at Comerica Park with his “Detroiters” bestie, actual Detroiter Sam Richardson, who co-created the Comedy Central cult hit with him.
