Red Dead Redemption first came to PC yesterday, and modders seem to have already broken the clock by introducing John Marston to GTA 6 and anime intros

The original PC port Red Dead Redemption finally arrived yesterday, October 29th, and it looks like it’s barely taken any time at all for the game to start getting the not-quite-lore-friendly modding treatment. Cue videos of John Marston watching anime and GTA 6 trailer in Armadillo’s old early cinema.

Yep, in that case you missed itRockstar’s finally brought the original Red Dead to the platform this month, after several rounds of rumors sparked by tidbits about the game unearthed in a variety of places, including Rockstar’s launcher and that PlayStation Store.

What was the result? Well, so far, much expected nostalgia and, uh, a video of John Marston getting excited about a trip to Leonida. He is also featured in the intro to Neon Genesis Evangelion. Yep, two things that definitely existed in the early 20th century, but that’s ok, John doesn’t seem too phased.

Voice actor Casey Mongillo shared these brilliant clips and appears to be whoever has decided to introduce the protagonist of RDR to modern media. They write that the first clip, where Johnny boy pays two dollars for a viewing of NGE’s anime intro, was “like a 3-minute mod”, and one that appears to merge two projects they’ve voiced for, with both Red Dead and Neon Genesis Evangelion’s 2019 redubbing underway their CV.

They’ve also lent their dulcet tones to a slew of other games and shows, including Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Starfieldand Delicious in Dungeon.

Mongillo’s drive to show Marston GTA 6 trailer, and to have the cowboy randomly interject lines like “amazing what money can do, isn’t it” which I hope is already in the game rather than being AI slobs, seems to have just been people on Twitter asking them to . We hope this means the process of adding new footage like this is as easy as it seems then, so we can enjoy clips of Marston taking time out from chasing Bill Williamson and Dutch Van Der Linde to be impressed by random shows and trailers he will canonically miss by about a hundred years or so.

What do you think Johnny boy needs to put on his watch list of things to bring between gunfights and bouts of horse crime? Let us know below!
