City filled with gems of music, theater and art

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) — Music, art, theater and comedy are part of the rich arts scene that Moline has to offer.

The options are endless: from the possibility of taking a self-guided tour of sculptures, murals and galleries to enjoying a musical concert under candlelight. These are some of the gems that Quad-Citians can enjoy and feel proud of.

“The biggest purpose behind the QC public art trail is to not only give visitors something to do while they’re here exploring, but to instill a sense of resident pride for people who live here. Our trail is a mobile-based, self-guided art journey in this community, so people can sign up for free and go at their own pace,” said Katrina Kerning, Director of Brand & Content Strategy for Visit Quad Cities.

The sound of pianos, violins, guitars and drums is another gem that provides beautiful melodies at the Sound Conservatory, a place that wants to bring music to everyone.

“We bring all kinds of artists – local artists and world-renowned artists – to our community as a way to bring people together through music, regardless of their background or economic condition. We want music to be there, accessible to everyone,” says Andrzej Kozłowski , owner and director of Sound Conservatory.

“The most rewarding thing is that I have so many different age groups of people I work with. My oldest student was an 80-year-old woman learning the ukulele. My youngest student is nine. I have every age group in between,” says Tony Vogel, guitar teacher at the Sound Conservatory.

The Sound Conservatory’s purpose is also to be a space for students and participants where they can get away from life’s problems through the healing power of music.

“This is a place where the music is the top priority. It’s about excellence and making sure you’re not just playing notes – it’s about the music and having an effect on those you play for,” says Josef Boden Bender, a student at The sound conservatory.

The final gem is one that can make you cry and laugh at the same time: theater.

Black Box & Spotlight theaters provide a space for all tastes.

The Black Box offers an intimate space with only 60 seats for an up close and personal view of the spectacle.

Spotlight seats over 500 people and provides award-winning productions such as the classic ‘Annie’.

The art scene in Moline offers something for everyone, but most importantly, these gems can provide something priceless: joy.
