UFC 309: Tom Aspinall said he said he could not attend the Jon Jones-Stipe Miocic press conference

Tom Aspinall says he was not allowed to attend the UFC 309 news conference in New York on Thursday.

Fans roared the Briton’s name despite the event promoting the heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.

Aspinall is the interim title holder but Jones has refused to fight him and is increasingly annoyed by questions from the media about the 31-year-old.

Earlier this week, the American, 37, used an expression to describe Aspinall, before telling fans to “knock it off” as they chanted “Tommy, Tommy” at the press conference.

“I asked to be at the press conference and I was told no. I tried to go but I was blacklisted,” Aspinall told the UFC weigh-in show.

UFC president Dana White said the winner of Saturday’s main event at Madison Square Garden should face Aspinall, but Jones claims a fight with him “does nothing for my legacy”.
