Are banks open or closed today? Check here

Chhoti Diwali 2024: Diwali festivities for 2024 have officially begun, with the lively celebrations of Dhanteras on Tuesday. We observe Narak Chaturdashi on Wednesday, commonly called Chhoti Diwali. As the celebration unfolds, many are wondering if the banks will be open or closed on this occasion.

The good news is that Chhoti Diwali/Narak Chaturdashi is not recognized as a scheduled holiday by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) this year. As a result, all public and private banks will operate as usual on Wednesday, allowing bank users to carry out their banking activities without interruption amidst the festive spirit.

Also, for Diwali this year, the date of holidays will largely depend on the location of the bank, as banks in different states may observe varying holiday schedules. In some states, banks will be closed on October 31, while others will observe the holiday on November 1.

Additionally, several states will enjoy an extended holiday weekend, with closures from October 31st to November 3rd. In these regions, customers should plan their banking activities accordingly, keeping in mind the specific holiday dates in their state.
