The DEA is holding National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to prevent abuse and reduce overdose deaths

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO)—DEA’s National Prescription Drug Prescription Day is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This biennial event offers anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at more than 4,000 local drop-off locations nationwide.

Drug overdose deaths claim more than 300 lives every day. According to a report published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a majority of people who abused a prescription drug received the drug from a family member or friend.

A location finder and partner toolkit is available at www.DEATakeBack.com for easy reference to collection locations.

Year-round bins are available at over 13,000 pharmacies, hospitals, police departments and businesses.
