Richmond County patrol car involved in injury crash on Gordon Highway

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A crash involving a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office patrol car on Gordon Highway Thursday afternoon resulted in injuries.

According to 911 reports, the crash was reported as an injury crash at Gordon Highway and Bayvale Road at 1:14 p.m.

At 14:10, there were 14 law enforcement officers at the scene.

A white Chevrolet Impala was involved in the accident. And it was clear that a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was involved, and it turned out to be T-boned.

A power pole was knocked down and the lights were out at Gordon Highway and Bayvale Road.

An officer was directing traffic and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office patrol car was pulling over.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation traffic report, the crash appeared to be westbound.

Traffic was barely moving on that side and slower than normal, but it had not stopped on the eastbound side.
