Video of Jarring in “X” Shows Damage at Tropicana Field, Home of Tampa Bay Rays

Tropicana Field, which sustained significant damage during the recent Hurricane Milton, appears unplayable for the Tampa Bay Rays through at least early 2025.

Reports already indicate that damage assessment will take weeks. The issue is further complicated by the financial situation: the Rays are moving to a new building in 2028, so do people want to fix the Trop – only to see the Rays leave soon anyway? While MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has said he prefers the Rays play in their home market in 2025, there are options on the table that include the Rays playing at an alternate site in early 2025, or even all year long if necessary.

Up to this point we’ve all seen pictures A large portion of Tropicana Field’s roof has been blown off, but we also recently received one of the first videos showing the inside of the ballpark.

It comes from @RaysTheRoofTB in “X” and shows the roof as well as the still-cluttered interior.

Tropicana Field has no drainage, so the Rays can’t play there without a roof. The Rays may have to play outside in an outdoor stadium next year, but it would be somewhere with adequate drainage.
