Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby reacts to Connor McDavid’s comments

As the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Edmonton Oilers, one of the biggest matchups is the battle of generational talent. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby meets Oilers captain Connor McDavid is always must-see hockey.

Instead of an NHL All-Star Game, the two superstars will have an opportunity to play on the same team for the first time in their careers. Crosby and McDavid have already been named to Team Canada’s roster for upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off.

Not only will the two share a uniform, but people are starting to wonder who will lead Team Canada as captain. McDavid let his thoughts be known when asked who would wear the “C” at the upcoming international tournament.

“Surely it should be Sid” McDavid said. “It’s not even a question.”

That’s a lot of praise from McDavid because he’s been seen as the best player in the NHL. McDavid essentially took the title of “NHL’s Best Player” from Crosby.

As humble as ever, Crosby noted that he’s not only happy for himself, but also for McDavid to represent his country for the first time on such a big stage, and for the fans who haven’t seen the best of hockey since its. 2014.

“Obviously because he hasn’t been able to play for Canada in a long time,” Crosby said on Prime’s Monday Night Hockey. “I think he must be really excited.”

Crosby himself is excited to play along with McDavid for the first time ever, rather than going against him. The Oilers currently have a dominant winning streak over the Penguins dating back to March 2019.

“Played against him all these years,” Crosby said. “It will be much better to play with him.”

NHL players have not been invited to international events since the 2014 Winter Olympics. Now, after a decade, fans will be treated to some of the most exciting competitions and rivalries the sport has to offer.

“That’s what it’s all about,” Crosby said. “Just very excited as players, and for the fans as well for what they’re going to see.”
