BBC Young Reporter: ‘I want more defense lessons’

The BBC West Midlands 2024 Young Correspondent is 14-year-old Tegan from Warwickshire. It explores the need for women and girls for self-defense classes.

But despite these numbers, I could only find five self-defence classes in the West Midlands that did not have a martial arts group.

Dene Josham from one of these programs, Streetwise Defense, visited my school to train girls there and told us, “I think it’s empowering to help them realize that they have all the skills they already have.”
