Former US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Saturday that it is very difficult to predict anything about President-elect Donald Trump.

Kerry also said that the two biggest problems in recent times US presidential election was inflation and immigration and that the Democratic Party failed to address the fears of Americans.

“Everyone in the world has learned that it is very difficult to predict anything President Trump… And that the unpredictability is something that he cultivates and appreciates in himself.” Kerry said in conversation with Navtej Sarna at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.

The 22nd edition of Hindustan Times Leadership Summit (HTLS2024), held in New Delhi, brought together dignitaries, industry leaders and the editorial staff to celebrate a century of journalistic excellence.

“IN US presidential election, the two biggest issues were – Inflation and immigration. Inflation under the Biden administration got better but there was a lack of perceived need, Kerry said on the call.

Kerry also spoke about the conflict in the Middle East. The former US secretary of state said things will change on both sides – some for the better and some for the worse. He also said that Israel, which used to push for a two-state solution with Palestine, now faces many challenges.

“Building trust among the Palestinians is going to take a lot of time,” said Kerry, who was the 68th US secretary of state from 2013 to 2017 in the administration of President Barack Obama.
