A man was taken to the hospital after a car and semi-tractor collided in DeKalb Co.

(WIFR) – Seven people were hospitalized after a rollover between two vehicles.

Just after 8 a.m. on October 24, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kingston County for a crash involving a Jeep and a semi-tractor.

Police said after stopping at a stop sign at the intersection of Cherry Valley Road and Kingston Road, the Jeep pulled into the path of a westbound Peterbilt Semi Truck that had no stop sign.

Authorities said the Jeep hit the side of the truck and the truck driver went off the road and into a ditch. The driver of the semi, identified as Juan Garcia-Garcia of Elgin, was airlifted from the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as a 32-year-old Belvidere woman, was taken to a hospital in Rockford. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says five children were in the Jeep at the time of the crash. Officials said the children had no visible injuries but were taken to the hospital for observation.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing by the sheriff’s office.
