Thieves hit 2 dozen storage units at Galleria-area public storage, victims include home charity

HOUSTONVillains cracked into 25 storage units inside a public storage i Houston’s Galleria area.

One of the victims is Fresh Spirit Wellness, a domestic violence advocacy group.

The group’s leader, Dr. Conte Terrell, learned of the burglary Thursday after a call from the manager at the warehouse facility.

According to Terrell, the manager said someone or a group of people broke into the units early Thursday morning.

“He said, ‘I just want you to know that there’s been a break-in, and we’ve been heavily vandalized at this location and 25 units were affected, and your unit is one,'” Terrell explained. “It’s very disappointing. “

Inside the storage unit, the thieves took out toys for children in domestic violence situations, electronics and even prizes the group uses at its annual gala.

Gage Goulding: “What was the total value of everything that was lost here?”

Dr. Conte Terrell: “So far at least $10,000.”

It is just one of the 25 units that were broken into.

“I feel very offended. This was just not the conversation I expected when we put these things here, she said. “We simply thought they would be safe here.”

The facility has security cameras. However, Terrell says the video the chief showed her is not very descriptive and only shows what she describes as two “suspicious” men.

Fresh Spirit Wellness provides Christmas gifts to children in domestic violence situations. They are now trying to replace what was taken from them.
