President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“It is beneficial for him to sit down (at the negotiating table – ed.), but it is not beneficial for him to negotiate. It is beneficial for him to agree on some terms of surrender from our side, but no one will allow him to that,” Zelensky said.

He emphasized that Putin is not seeking peace at all, but that does not mean he does not want to sit down with other leaders at the negotiating table. “Why? Because for him it’s about destroying the political isolation built up since the start of the war. And it’s beneficial for him to sit down to talk but not reach an agreement,” the head of state said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Fox News recently reported that US President-elect Donald Trump plans to soon appoint a special representative to lead negotiations on the end of the Russian war in Ukraine from the US side.
