Several elderly victims carjacked in northwest Baltimore, one victim speaks out

Several juveniles were arrested after a 79-year-old man was beaten and carjacked Thursday afternoon in Baltimore’s northwest district, officials said.

Police say that on Nov. 14 around 4:45 p.m., officers went to the 3300 block of Clarks Lane to investigate a carjacking call.

Upon arrival, officers say they spoke with a 79-year-old man, who stated that two unidentified, possibly juvenile suspects, physically assaulted him.

Police say both suspects took his car keys and drove off in their SUV.

The victim was treated at the scene by medics for shoulder pain, police said.

A short time later, police say Foxtrot found the victim’s vehicle and began following it.

Officials say the vehicle eventually struck a light pole and became disabled.

Eight juveniles bailed out of the vehicle near the intersection of North Avenue and Eutaw Street. Police say they were soon apprehended and detained by officers.

The young people who were arrested at the scene were between the ages of 14 and 16, the police said.

Officers arrested two 15-year-old males and transported them to the Juvenile Justice Center where they were processed and charged accordingly.

Police say the remaining six juveniles were treated by medical personnel and released to a parent or guardian, pending juvenile referrals.

Citywide robbery detectives continue to investigate this incident.

Meanwhile, Fox45 spoke with the victim by phone.

We do not use his name for security reasons; however, he described what happened.

“One of these bastards came up and said give me the keys to your car. And I looked at him and he said give me the keys to your car or I’ll knock you down. He hit me. I have to go to the ER now,” said the victim.

The victim told Fox45 he suffered injuries during the assault.

“I find it really difficult to raise my arm and I have pain all the way down. And I’ll go take some pictures later,” the victim said.

On Monday, a 83-year-old woman was assaulted and carjackedless than a mile from Thursday’s carjacking.

A 16-year-old was arrested for that case, after the police found the vehicle.

The carjacking took place just before three o’clock in the afternoon.

In August, Fox45 told us about a lady in her 60-something who was assaulted and run over by his own vehicleduring a carjacking.

That carjacking also happened less than a mile from Thursday’s carjacking.
