The trailer’s release comes more than a year after it was rumored that Foxx was the reason behind Diaz’s decision to walk away from Hollywood a second time when they wrapped production on the Netflix movie. It was reported that Foxx had a “meltdown” on set that resulted in the firing of an executive producer, two directors, and his driver.

Besides her desire to be more present for her 3-year-old daughter, Raddixwhich she shares with husband Benji Madden, a source close to Diaz told the Daily Mail that the “Something About Mary” actress “hates” the “drama and confrontation” that comes with working in the entertainment industry.

“That’s why she pulled out of the business in the first place,” the source explained at the time. “She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.”

But the source also shared that Diaz and Foxx are still on good terms despite the heightened tension.

“Cameron is a businessman and understands that this is necessary at times and, frankly, Jamie is the only reason she’s doing this movie and they’re still very close,” the insider added.

Diaz responded to the speculation last December and said she “really” hated the rumors circulating about her cast and crew on set.

“You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?'” she said on Molly Sims’ “Lipstick on the Rim” podcast.

The actress also shut down claims that Foxx was the reason for her renewed hiatus.

“Jamie is the best. I love that guy so much,” she says. “He’s such a special person and he’s so talented, so funny.”
