Omer Riza: Interim manager says his future at Cardiff City is unclear

Cardiff City interim boss Omer Riza admits he “doesn’t know” if he will remain Bluebirds boss through the international break.

After a string of impressive results, Cardiff have been beaten in their last two league games and Riza admits it could affect his future.

The stand-in boss, who has been backed by several of the Cardiff players, held talks with Cardiff’s owners last weekend ahead of their 2-1 win over Norwich City.

But no deal has been reached to keep Riza in charge on a permanent basis and he admits he is in the dark about the club’s plans, especially after two defeats.

Asked about his future, he told BBC Sport Wales: “As for what it looks like, I don’t know. It’s every international break is a chance to bring in another manager.

“We’ve always said when you win it’s harder, when you lose it’s easier.

“It depends on what the club wants to do going forward, only they can answer that.

“What I’m worried about is not winning games. The pressure is there if you don’t win games and then there’s the possibility that anything can happen. I’m not going to say if I want the job, you already know the answer to that.”

As for a timeline for a permanent successor to former chief Erol Bulut, who was fired in September, Riza added: “They will make a decision eventually, you just have to wait.”
