Meridian Symphony Association hosts Night to Shine at Soule

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Friday evening, the Meridian Symphony Association hosted a reception for a night to shine on Soule at the Soule Steam Works Museum in Meridian.

The theme of the event is “Jimmie Rodgers and Where It All Began.” From 6pm to 9pm, donors, sponsors and partners were able to mingle and enjoy live entertainment, drinks and food.

This is an annual event hosted by the Meridian Symphony to shine a spotlight on musicians, especially Jimmie Rodgers.

Carra Purvis, executive director of the Meridian Symphony Association, shares more about the memory of Jimmie Rodgers.

“This year we remember the music of Jimmy Rogers, which most people have not forgotten. We love Jimmy Rogers here in Meridian, but what people may not know are the women behind Jimmy Rogers, Miss Virginia Shine and Elsie McWilliams, who helped write much of Jimmy’s music, and so it was news to me. I love history, I love finding out about all these lovely Nuggets,” says Carra Purvis.

The Meridian Symphony will host its Night to Shine event tomorrow at 18.00, so buy your tickets at https://www.purplepass.com/events/303468-a-night-to-shine-%40-soule’-(16th)-nov-16th-2024.
