Those with draft e-khatas are eligible to seek the final document after applying for it online and following the due process.
Inundated with complaints from property owners that its new faceless online e-khata system is riddled with problems like misspelled names, errors in property numbers and more, the BBMP has decided to introduce a correction module from Monday. Citizens with problems can visit the office of their Jurisdictional Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) to get these issues resolved.
Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Revenue), BBMP, said if any mistakes occur during data entry of citizens applying for e-khata, they can go to their AROs from Monday and get it corrected in the backend, where the changes will be reflected.
Soon separate module to get e-khatas
The mistakes that can be rectified at ARO offices are input of wrong property size, uploading of wrong property documents and mistakes in GPS or property images, he added. – There are also mistakes real estate digitization with name and number during the data entry process. Such fixes can also be addressed through the patch module,” added Moudgil.
The BBMP also announced that in the next 10-15 days they will start a separate module to issue e-khatas to properties that do not have physical khatas.
“An estimated 5 lakh properties under BBMP do not have any khata in the first place. To get them e-khatas, A or B as the case may be, we will release a separate system where people can get the document.” Moudgil explained.
Avoid duplication of work
He, however, said that people who have khata should not end up reapplying for one when they face problems in registering for e-khata. “There cannot be two khatas for one property. We request people who already have one khata not to apply for a new khata,” he added.
According to Moudgil, citizens who have bought property from a developer and have a purchase deed but no khata can get the document in the separate module.
Developers who have developed properties with due approvals and want to sell them and developers who have khatas for their plots but not for individual flats they have built can also apply for the deed under this module.
