WATCH — Eras Tour: We spoke to the Swifties ahead of Canada’s first concert | story

Fans reveal how much they spent on tickets and merchandise

After more than a year of waiting, the day that thousands of Swifties had been dreaming of was finally here: on November 14, Taylor Swift played her first Eras Tour show in Canada.

It was the first of six concerts at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario. In December, she will wrap up the record-breaking worldwide tour in Vancouver, BC, at BC Place Stadium.

Around 500,000 fans are expected to visit Toronto over the six shows.

CBC Kids News hit the streets around the Rogers Center before the first concert and spoke to dozens of Swifties.

We met people who came from far and wide and spent thousands of dollars on tickets and merch.

Everyone said it was worth it for a chance to experience the Eras Tour.

Some people weren’t so lucky – they didn’t have tickets, but went to the Rogers Center anyway, hoping to find a way in.

Even without concert tickets, there were other ways to share in the festivities with other Swifties.

At Toronto’s Version: Taylgate ’24 party at the nearby Metro Convention Centre, some fans bought tickets to make friendship bracelets and get makeup for the show.

There was also a giant sing-a-long, with a community musical group, the Choir! Run! Choir!, leads the audience in covers of some of Swift’s biggest hits.
