SEC Top 10 for Week 12: Vols challenge Georgia’s nationally-best home winner

The four conference and four non-conference games on Saturday’s SEC slate feature two matchups of teams that appear in this week’s CFP rankings, with Tennessee visiting Georgia and Missouri at South Carolina. Here are 10 stats from SEC Football by the Numbers, along with the schedule, TV and betting, to get you ready for Week 12:

0 LSU coaches have defeated Florida in their first three meetings with the Gators. The Tigers visit Florida on Saturday with Brian Kelly at 2-0 against the Gators as LSU’s coach. The Tigers defeated Florida 45-35 in 2022 and 52-35 in 2023 when Kelly joined Charles McClendon as LSU coaches who won their first two games against Florida. McClendon lost Game 3 to Florida 20-6 in 1964. Having won the last five meetings, LSU leads the series 34-33-3, while Florida holds a 16-15-3 lead in Gainesville, where Saturday’s game will be played.

1 The previous Missouri-South Carolina game featured two teams ranked in The Associated Press poll. On October 26, 2013, No. 20 South Carolina upset No. 5 Missouri 27-23. On Saturday, No. 24 Missouri visits No. 23 South Carolina. (In the CFP rankings, the Gamecocks are No. 21 and the Tigers are No. 23.) Missouri has won the last five meetings for the Mayors’ Cup Trophy. The contest is one of three trophy games on South Carolina’s schedule. The Gamecocks have already won the Bonham Trophy by defeating Texas A&M 44-20 on Nov. 2 and will play Clemson on Nov. 30 for the Palmetto Bowl trophy.

3 Alabama player has at least six rushing TDs this season. The Crimson Tide is the only team in the country with more than two such players. QB Jalen Milroe has 16 rushing TDs, RB Jam Miller has seven and RB Justice Haynes has six. Alabama is also the only SEC team and among 11 teams nationally with three ball carriers with 370 or more rushing yards. Milroe has 565 yards on 114 carries, Miller has 488 yards on 87 carries and Haynes has 373 yards on 63 carries.

8 Teams across the nation have used the same five offensive starters in every game this season, including SEC members South Carolina and Texas. The other teams with the same starting offensive line all season have been Indiana, Kansas, Syracuse, Texas State, Tulane and Wisconsin.

10 Consecutive Tennessee opponents have failed to reach 20 points against the Volunteers. The streak began with a 35-0 shutout of Iowa in the Citrus Bowl to end the 2023 season. This is the first season in which Tennessee has held its first nine opponents to fewer than 20 points each since 1966, when Tennessee did so in all 11 of its matches. The Volunteers’ Saturday opponent, Georgia, has averaged 30.6 points per game in 2024. The Bulldogs have scored fewer than 20 points in two games this season — a 13-12 win over Kentucky on Sept. 14 and a 28-10 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday.

22 Consecutive non-conference regular season games have been won by Kentucky – the second-longest such streak in the nation. Kentucky’s most recent regular-season non-conference loss is a 44-17 setback to Louisville on Nov. 25, 2017. The Wildcats will look to extend their streak against Murray State on Saturday. Georgia owns the nation’s longest active regular-season winning streak in non-conference play at 26 games, dating back to a 28-27 loss to Georgia Tech on Nov. 26, 2016.

28 Consecutive home games have been won by Georgia, the longest such streak in school history and the longest ongoing streak in the country. The home streak began with a 21–0 shutout of Kentucky on October 19, 2019, one week after a 20–17 loss to South Carolina at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs will look to extend the streak against Tennessee on Saturday. Georgia has not lost to an SEC opponent at Sanford Stadium in November since Kentucky posted a 34-27 victory in Athens on Nov. 21, 2009. The Bulldogs’ hitting streak spans 16 games with four wins over Kentucky, four over Maroonthree over Missouri, two over Ole Miss, one over Texas A&M, one over Mississippi State and one over Tennessee.

33 Years since the last time Arkansas and Texas squared off as conference rivals. The Razorbacks and Longhorns played every season from 1932 to 1991 as members of the Southwest Conference. Arkansas defeated Texas 14-13 on October 19, 1991, and then began play in the SEC the next season. Since that game, the teams have met in six non-conference contests. On Saturday, the Longhorns and Razorbacks meet in Fayetteville in Texas’ first season as an SEC member. Texas leads the series 56-23.

87 Rushyards needed by RB Jarquez Hunter against ULM on Saturday to record the 30th 1,000-yard rushing season in Auburn history. Hunter has 913 yards and five TDs on 132 rushing attempts in 2024. The Tigers’ 1,000-yard rushers have been Monk Gafford 1942, Jimmy Sidle 1963, Joe Cribbs 1978 and 1979, James Brooks and Bo Jackson 19809 19809 1983 and 1985, Brent Fullwood 1986, James Bostic 1993, Stephen Davis 1994 and 1995, Rudi Johnson 2000, Ronnie Brown 2002, Cadillac Williams 2003 and 2004, Kenny Irons in Cam 02005, Ben Ta9005. 2010, Michael Dyer 2010 and 2011, Tre Mason 2012 and 2013, Nick Marshall 2013, Cameron Artis-Payne 2014, Peyton Barber 2015, Kamryn Pettway 2016, Kerryon Johnson in 2012.

772 Rushing yards against SEC competition for Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson this season is averaging 128.7 per game, leading the conference by 22 yards per game. Sampson also has the most rushing TDs in SEC games this season with 11. Sampson and the Volunteers play Georgia on Saturday. The Bulldogs have averaged 110.9 rushing yards per game in all competitions this season and 119.4 rushing yards per game in conference competition.
