Ranking the top QBs in the Big Ten after Week 11 of college football

Time is definitely running out on Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel wants to overtake Indiana’s Kurtis Rourke for the top spot in the Big Ten quarterback rankings. There are only three weeks left in the college football regular season.

While there isn’t much change in the top half of the rankings, the middle and bottom sees a slight shuffling of the deck, and some of these quarterbacks didn’t even have to play to slide up the list.

The resurgence of UCLA and Ethan Garbers has been an interesting watch. In the first few weeks of the season, the Bruins were awful and Garber’s play didn’t help matters. Now the former California Bear is playing like we all thought he would in Pasadena.

There is one wild card we can’t quite figure out and that is Purdue’s Hudson Card. He’s in the top half of the rankings, but the Boilermakers might be the worst team in the conference. It doesn’t make much sense.

Here are the full rankings according to Pro Football Focus:

Kurtis Rourke – Indiana

Last week: It was a closer game than many thought, but Michigan went into Bloomington and gave the Hoosiers a scare before falling 20-15. Rourke wasn’t great, but just good enough. He was 17-of-28 for 206 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Indiana has a bye week before the big game at Ohio State.

Dillon Gabriel – Oregon

Last week: State-wise, it was probably Gabriel’s worst game where he was 23-of-34 passing for 183 yards, but he had three touchdowns and no picks. It was a strange game, but the Ducks dominated Maryland 39-18. Oregon goes to Wisconsin next.

Drew Allar – Penn State

Last week: Penn State bounced back from their first loss by beating the Washington Huskies 35-6. Allar was 20-of-28 passing for 220 yards and a touchdown. The Nittany Lions now go to Purdue.

Max Brosmer – Minnesota

Last week: Minnesota’s three-game winning streak went down in flames with a 26-19 loss at Rutgers. Brosmer was 27-of-45 passing for 262 yards and a touchdown, but he was sacked four times. The Gophers have a bye week next.

Last week: The Boilermakers’ woes continue with their eighth straight loss, this time 45-0 at Ohio State. Short was 9-of-19 passing for 108 yards and an interception. It doesn’t get any easier this week as they host Penn State.

Billy Edwards, Jr. – Maryland

Last week: Maryland had a tough time inside Autzen in the 39-18 loss to the Ducks. Edwards, Jr. was 22-of-44 passing for 206 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Maryland flies home to take on Rutgers.

Miller Moss – USC

Last week: USC had a bye last week, but still got news when coach Lincoln Riley announced he was benching Moss in favor of Jayden Maiava. He will face Nebraska at home next.
