Matthew C. Keyser

PIERCETON — A Pierceton man was arrested for entering a home without permission.

Matthew C. Keyser, 32, 3389 S. SR 13, Pierceton, is charged with residential entry, a Level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor.

On Oct. 26, a man said he found Keyser at his home in Pierceton. A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded and spoke with the man.

According to court documents, the man said Keyser entered the home by opening a kitchen window and moving several items from the kitchen counter. The deputy noticed significant damage to a window screen and several household items that Keyser was standing on so he could enter the home.

The KCSO deputy and a responding Winona Lake police officer went to speak with Keyser at a nearby residence. Keyser opened the door to the residence but tried to slam and lock it when he saw officers. Keyser continued to try to close the door while officers told him to stop. Officers were able to push open the door, enter the home and take Keyser into custody.

Both the man and a woman in the home that Keyser illegally entered alleged that Keyser exhibited extremely violent behavior.

Keyser tested 0.24% BrAC on a portable breathalyzer and said he accidentally entered the man and woman’s home due to his intoxication.

Keyser has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Dec. 6 in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
