West Central Minnesota Farmland Lease Fair Meetings – West Central Tribune

WORTHINGTON

— Agricultural land leases will be the subject of free meetings presented by

University of Minnesota Extension

for landlords, farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs.

David Bau and Nathan Hulinsky, ag business management educators, will provide several ways to determine a fair rental cost for farmland for both landlords and farmers – through examples, fact sheets and worksheets.

In-person meetings coming up in west-central Minnesota include sessions in Litchfield, Olivia and Madison.

The

Litchfield meeting

is set for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at the Meeker County Extension Office on the fairgrounds at 1230 North Armstrong Ave.

The

Madison meeting

is set for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5 at the Lac qui Parle County Annex, in the multimedia room, at 422 Fifth Ave.

The

Olivia meeting

is set for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Renville County Government Center, Rooms 116 & 117, 105 South Fifth St.

Topics covered at the meetings will include local, historical and estimated farmland rental rates, current farmland values ​​and sales, and a worksheet to help determine a fair lease.

Input costs for 2025 will be presented along with current 2024 corn and soybean prices. Worksheets will examine 2025 costs and rent affordability in 2025, returns to landlords at current market values, and examine flexible leases.
