Two people have been charged with threatening to use a gun to hit a child with a car in Camden Co.

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — Two Springfield residents have been charged with multiple felonies in Camden County for allegedly threatening people with a gun and hitting a teenage boy with their car.

According to a press release from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), deputies arrested 34-year-old Ashley Pearle Coleman and 36-year-old Chasimus Edward Quinn following reports of a disturbance on Westpark Drive in north Camdenton.

Coleman is charged with first-degree assault and weapons offenses, while Quinn is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to court records.

CCSO said when deputies arrived at the scene they found “…a male juvenile victim who had been struck by a car and suffered serious injuries.” The child was taken to an area hospital, where he was last reported to have sustained serious injuries but was reported to be in stable condition.

CCSO’s probable cause statement stated that deputies arrived at the scene to find 30 to 40 people. Deputies also saw a woman, later identified as Coleman, exit the rear of the residence with multiple young children. A few minutes later, Coleman was taken into custody, followed by Quinn.

CCSO said multiple witnesses identified Coleman as the driver of the car that hit the child. According to the probable cause affidavit, the car was registered to Coleman and showed major damage to the front passenger side, including a broken headlight, cracked windshield and shattered rear window.

A dozen witnesses told CCSO that Quinn allegedly threatened several people in the neighborhood with a gun, including a child. When the boy’s parents confronted Quinn, Coleman hit the boy with his car. Witnesses said both Quinn and Coleman then ran into the nearby house.

When deputies took Coleman and Quinn into custody, documents say they also found a firearm matching the description given by witnesses.

While speaking with Quinn, documents say, he spontaneously told CCSO that no firearms were involved because he was in federal custody.

Quinn and Coleman are currently being held in the Camden County Jail and are scheduled to appear in court for their first hearing on October 24.
