In addition to its masterful cobblestone works — think everything from one Vibram ripple sole on one Birkenstock Boston to custom recreations of classics such as Air Jordan 3 and Air Max 95plus lovingly restored Geobasket — LA-based Goods and services has expanded its reach to its own shoes made in LA. The brand debuted with two colors of one hybrid mule earlier this year (one of which was a 18 East collaboration) and now it’s engineered an all-new sneakerboot-style silhouette called the Day Hiker.

The mid-cut silhouette features a variety of vegetable-tanned leathers, with the majority of its real estate taken up by a shaggy, suede-like “rough” leather. This is overlaid with a black pebbled leather splash guard and toe cap, while the collar padding is an ultra-soft vegetable-tanned lambskin. Each vegetable tanned piece will develop a rich, dark patina with age, wear and UV exposure. In addition to the luxurious construction of the upper, the Goods & Services Day Hiker features an EVA midsole with a hiking-ready Vibram outsole and heel — and is also equipped with multiple lace options.

“The kind of leather that ages and patinas is not common in outdoor shoes or sneakers, more so in work boots.” says the founder of Goods & Services Rory Fortune. “There’s something to be said for a shoe that takes on a ‘personal’ patina as you hike and travel.” Fortune also notes that the Day Hiker runs slightly large, so if you’re in between sizes, go down a half size.
