Brooklyn Park Police remind residents to lock windows and doors after a recent burglary

Following a burglary in Brooklyn Park, police are advising residents to secure their homes and be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

At 7:27 p.m. Thursday, the Brooklyn Park Police Department said they were called to a burglary in progress at a home in the 1700 block of 73rd Avenue North.

Residents reportedly found a man inside pointing a gun at them and returned to their homes before fleeing.

While the search for the suspect was unsuccessful, the police asked residents of the area to search for suspicious activities.

The suspect is described as a skinny black man between 5’9″ and 5’10” tall, with a beard, wearing an all black hoodie and black pants.

According to police, this description is similar to previous reports they received on Thursday of a man wearing a black hoodie with white text, a black jacket with red sleeves and light-colored pants.

Those reports said the man was looking at windows and trying door handles in the 7500 block of Newton Avenue North and Meadowwood Drive. Similar sightings were reported to the Brooklyn Center Police.

Call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
