Billionaire Pankaj Oswal ‘feels guilty’, locks himself in a ‘secret place’: ‘He devotes all his time to it…’

Riddhi Oswal, the younger daughter of Indian-origin billionaire Pankaj Oswal, said she felt “extremely guilty” for sending her elder daughter Vasundhara to Uganda. He added that he devoted all his time to fighting for her release.

Vasundhara has been imprisoned in Uganda for more than three weeks.

In an email interview with HT.com, Riddhi said that the businessman and his wife Radhika Oswal locked themselves in a “secret place” while trying to secure Vasundhara’s release.

He also shared that his parents’ guilt was compounded by their desperation at not being able to travel to the African country.

“My parents’ hands are tied because they can’t even go to Uganda, they face immediate arrest by corrupt officials there,” he told HT.com.

Riddhi also shared that the family learned that police in Uganda have a lot of power and can arrest people on a whim “even without a warrant or proper court procedures.”

He also explained that if his parents were also arrested, they would not be able to fight for his sister, who was “essentially deprived of everything and treated like a convicted criminal.”

Riddhi told HT.com that her parents, Pankaj and Radhika Oswal, have cut off contact with the outside world and only talk to people who can help her sister.

The younger Oswal sister is now responsible for all family and business matters as her parents devote all their attention to ensuring Vasundhara’s release.

‘They devoted all their time to fighting for my sister’s release’

Riddhi shared that her parents were there. London When they first learned of Vasundhara’s arrest, they felt “extremely guilty” and actually locked themselves in a secret location, “devoting all their time to fighting for my sister’s release”.

“They barely eat more than one meal a day and they survive on the hope and belief that they can free their daughter,” he said.

Riddhi said her parents felt immense guilt because they “forced her to go to Africa to manage the factory and supervise its installation.”

“They always taught us that both genders are equal and encouraged my sister to work on new projects and more challenging tasks rather than giving her something ‘easier’ or ‘fancier’ just because she is a woman. They now feel responsible for his situation,” he told HT.com.

Where is Vasundhara Oswal?

Vasundhara Oswal, 26, was ‘seized by about 20 armed men’ at the extra neutral alcohol factory set up by her family on October 1.

Local authorities linked his detention in a Ugandan prison to the ongoing missing person investigation; The allegations his family insists on are completely false.

An urgent appeal was made to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention earlier this week.
