Davenport police and fire share Halloween safety tips as families prepare for trick-or-treating

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois (KWQC) – Community members packed their costumes and friends to head to Rock Island’s family-friendly event, Fright Night in the Park, but Davenport police and fire departments say they still want safety to be at the forefront .

The event was held at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, 101 17th Street, from 5 to 7 p.m., and was free for the community to attend.

As Halloween festivities continue this time of year, Davenport police and fire departments shared tips on how trick-or-treaters can stay safe while enjoying spooky fun.

“In the event of a standoff, we need to know which kids we’re looking for… ‘They walked out dressed like this,’ those types of responsibilities are huge for us,” said Davenport Fire Lt. Zach Soliz.

Fright Night was filled with fun events such as:

  • DJ and Halloween dances
  • Trick or treat candy bags
  • Costume contest with amazing prizes
  • Fun with the whole family
