Why Kelly Osbourne Says Her Son Sidney “Saved” Her

Managing gestational diabetes

Kelly was diagnosed with gestational diabetes “well into my third trimester,” she shared People in September 2022, “so it wasn’t like I developed it because some people get it from the start when they’re pregnant. I got it in my third trimester and basically I thought it was something I’d done wrong.”

Her only pregnancy craving had been sugar, especially sugary drinks, Kelly explained, and although she tried to curb it by drinking freshly squeezed juice, “it still had way more sugar than I needed.”

Once she made targeted changes to her diet, she continued, she suffered from sugar withdrawal headaches for a while but eventually lost 10 pounds, stopped having to wear compression stockings, and her skin cleared up.

“I wish I had this kind of incentive before because I’ve never been able to stick to anything one hundred percent the way I’ve done it because I’m not doing it for myself,” Kelly said. “I do it for my baby. But I’ve learned—I can’t even begin to tell you the changes it’s made.”
