2 dead after shooting turned into accident in South Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Two people are dead following a shooting and crash in South Memphis.

Memphis police responded to a shooting at East EH Crump Boulevard and Mason Street on Wednesday around 11:30 p.m.

Police teams arriving at the scene found an injured person lying on the pavement. While officers were blocking traffic, a driver crashed into two police cruisers and overturned.

When police went to help the driver, they realized he had been shot.

There were no police officers in the patrol cars and no one was injured in the crash.

While the man lying on the ground and the driver were taken to the hospital, it was stated that their condition was critical and both of them died.

It is not yet known where the driver was shot.

There is no suspicious information at this time.
