It will finally happen. Anyone who follows Nebraska prep football knows that No. 1 Westside and No. 2 Millard South have been on a collision course all year. Well, at Memorial Stadium on Nov. 25, they finally collide.

Westside used a dominant second half to pull away from Omaha North for a 47-21 victory in the semifinals on Friday night. Now, the Warriors are making their sixth straight appearance in the state championship game and are looking to lift the trophy for the third year in a row.

But in their way comes the buzz saw that is Millard South. The Patriots averaged a margin of victory of 38 points during the regular season and carried that over into the playoffs, beating Kearney 49-14 on Friday to set up the Westside matchup.

It’s a similar feeling in Class B as well, as two Omaha metro powerhouses will meet in the final again. Like Westside, No. 1 Bennington is seeking its fourth straight state title after a 16-7 choke of Elkhorn North in the semis Friday.

It won’t be a cakewalk for Bennington, though, as the team that has beaten them for the past four seasons is on the other side of the bracket. Skutt Catholic went on the road and beat Seward 42-21 on Friday, setting up a rematch in the title game. Earlier this year, Skutt snapped Bennington’s 46-game hitting streak.
