James Bond execs offer update on new 007

James Bonds producers have offered an update on the search for the next 007confirms more concrete details about the role’s criteria.

Speculation is high as to who will succeed Daniel Craig as the iconic spy since his departure three years ago, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

In a new interview with Associated Pressproducers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson did not provide information on when exactly the announcement will be made, but acknowledged that it will be a “big decision”.

The pair then confirmed that the next Bond will be a man, likely in his 30s, while whiteness is not a given. The actor is also expected to commit for at least a decade.

Wilson opened up about entering a new era, adding: “Every time we cast a new actor, the films change. That’s the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction. Each of these people who took on the role offered something new and different.”

It comes after Amazon MGM Studios global head Jennifer Salke recently suggested they are “not worried” with the gap between the films after the release of No time to die back in 2021.

“There are a lot of ideas (about potential actors) that have come up that I thought were interesting,” she added The Observer. “I think there are many different paths we can take.

“We have a good and close relationship with Eon and (producers) Barbara (Broccoli) and Michael (G Wilson). We’re not looking to interfere with how those wonderful films are made. For our part, we’re taking their lead.”

She added: “The global audience will be patient. We don’t want too much time between films, but we’re not worried at this point.”

Meanwhile, Craig recently admitted that he doesn’t “care” who succeeds him in the role of Bond.
