The Weld Sheriff’s Office is holding an open house to celebrate the opening of the Sam Brownlee Training Center in Carr – Greeley Tribune

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office will host an open house on Friday, Nov. 22 to celebrate the grand opening of the Sam Brownlee Training Center, 58336 Weld County Road 23 in Carr.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include SWAT, K-9 and drone demonstrations, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. There will also be tours of the area and a presentation by the sheriff’s office’s administrative team.

The facility is named after former Weld County Deputy Sam Brownlee, who was killed in the line of duty on November 23, 2010.

In his honor, the Sam Brownlee Training Center will feature an outdoor shooting range complex including six firearms ranges with varying distances up to 300 yards, according to the release. The office said there will be an indoor education center with several classrooms and administrative spaces. The sheriff’s office anticipates adding future additions to the facility as needed.

The office asks that no one bring any weapons or ammunition as the range is not public and use will not be permitted, according to the press release.
