Red flag warnings continue on Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Dry and windy weather will continue this weekend, holding Red flag warning going through at least Saturday.

Today was a breezy, mild day for the Valley with highs in the 50s to around 60, but the Berkshires remained about 10 degrees cooler.

Skies will remain clear overnight with low temperatures falling back into the 20s to near 30 in spots due to a lingering light northwest breeze.

Temperatures will warm quickly Saturday with highs returning to the mid and upper 50s in the mountains and around 60 in the valley. There will be one First preparedness weather day again because of Red flag warning. Northwest wind increasing to 10-15 mph with gusts to 20-30 mph during the early evening.

Sunday will be another fine weather day with sunny skies, mild temperatures around 60 degrees and a light breeze. Some high clouds increase late in the day ahead of a weak system that moves through Monday.

We have a low chance of seeing some spotty showers Monday morning from an upper level disturbance. Any showers that do come through will be quick and very light, which won’t do much for our drought conditions. Monday will be the last mild day of the week with temps still near 60, then it will be more seasonable with temps in the low to mid 50s for Tuesday and Wednesday.

We are seeing more consistent signals for a powerful storm system later next week in the Ohio Valley that could bring some beneficial rain to the Northeast. While it’s certainly not a lock yet, it’s the best signal for rain we’ve seen in a while. We will keep you updated!
