“Battle Buddies” beer connects veterans with support

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Marsh Island brewing and the Maine Veterans Project have teamed up to release a new beer again.

Veterans gathered at High Tide in Brewer Friday to celebrate the release of this year’s “Battle Buddies” beer.

The tradition began a few years ago as a way to reach out to veterans.

The IPA is packaged in a special can with a message to veterans connecting them to resources offered through the Maine Veterans Project

“A lot of times that someone needs us is, when that message will resonate clearly, it’s at night if they’re in a bar looking at the can. I know it’s a small gesture but we just wanted a way to reach people during the times that the organization was closed, to do an activity that sometimes people in these situations do when they’re depressed, upset, sad and just want to get out ” , said Doc Goodwin, president and warden of the Maine Veterans Project.

Marsh Island Brewing is making a donation to the Maine Veterans Project with the release, and if sales exceed expectations, they’ll donate even more.

You can find “Battle Buddies” at most beer stores around the Bangor area.
