Kettering Health family doctor dies unexpectedly

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A longtime local doctor has died, according to an obituary.

Newcomer Dayton reported Dr. Gary Bedel, 64, of Springboro, died unexpectedly on Nov. 11. Bedel worked at Kettering Health Medical Group Primary Care in Franklin as a family practice physician.

Described as having a “caring nature” and “selflessness,” Bedel recalled in his obituary.

“His legacy of love, laughter and devotion to family and community will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him,” the obituary said. “His life was a testament to the impact one person can have on countless lives through kindness and genuine care.”

After Dr. On Bedel’s death, Kettering Health released a statement to WDTN.com.

We are deeply saddened by Dr. Gary Bedel’s passing and mourn his loss. A beloved physician and colleague whose medical career spanned 30 years of service in Franklin, he was dedicated to his community, the team with which he served, and to the mission of providing care that both healed and valued his patients.

We will hold Dr. Bedel’s family, friends, colleagues and the community in our prayers.”

Outside of his practice, Bedel is said to have enjoyed motorcycle rides, spending quality time with family and walking in nature.

A visitation for Bedel will be held at 3940 Kettering Blvd. in Kettering from 4 to 6 p.m. on November 19. Funeral service immediately follows at 6 p.m.
