Pearl City High’s marching band heads to the ‘Windy City’ to perform in the Festival of Lights

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Pearl City High School’s marching band is headed to the “Windy City.”

The marching band will perform in Chicago on Saturday, November 23rd at the Wintrust Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

It features 1 million lights that illuminate the Magnificent Mile’s 200 plus trees along North Michigan Avenue.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to bring the aloha spirit to the people of Chicago. Many of these students began playing their instruments during the height of the COVID pandemic,” said Pearl City High School Director of Bands Chadwick Kamei.

“It’s amazing to see how they’ve flourished in recent years. I’m proud that they can travel and share their music with people around our country.”

The school says this will be the first time a band from Hawaii will participate in the parade.

The group leaves for Chicago on Wednesday, November 20.
