Parking inspectors are increasingly subject to harassment from members of the public angry over faulty meters.

Australian Services Union (ASU) Branch Secretary Tash Wark said: 3AW Driver Union members “are subjected to occupational violence on a fairly regular basis” and 30 workers are currently on strike.

ASU is attempting to propose new measures to the City of Melbourne to ensure the safety of parking inspectors. One suggestion involves putting workers together in shifts.
