Pueblo School District 70 Director wins Lawyer of the Year award

PUEBLO — The Pueblo School District 70 (D70) Superintendent is being honored for his work to help counselors and students.

Dr. Anthony Martinez was awarded Lawyer of the Year by the Colorado School Counselor Association. He has served as D70’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction for three years.

During this time he helped raise more money to hire more consultants. He also helped implement more student programs to assist with:

  • sanity
  • attending school
  • social life
  • career choices

“School counselors have always had an impact on me, I had really good school counselors growing up, but I’ve had really (good) partners throughout my career in school counselors, so I knew the importance of the role coming in,” Doctor Martinez said.
Dr. Martinez says one of his goals for the future is to continue increasing the student-to-counselor ratio at each school.
