Vance asks voters not to let politics end lifelong friendships

during an event at city hall on Thursday. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) reached a rarely seen tone 2024 campaign tracking when he asks citizens not to let their political beliefs completely influence their relationships.

Former President Donald Trump’s running mate began by talking about the harsh rhetoric used ahead of Election Day, saying: “We have to get better at communicating and talking to each other. But then Vance called out voters during a heated political season for how they interact with the people in their lives.

“And I’ll make one last point about this. You know, always don’t get too personal… one of the things I’ve seen, especially from some of my wife’s friends and some of my friends, is that they disagree with us on politics — sometimes they get very personal about it like that,” the Ohio Republican said.

“If you’re throwing away a lifelong friendship because someone voted for the other team, then you’ve made a terrible mistake and you should do something different,” he added. “Don’t throw it away; Most of my family will obviously vote for Donald Trump and JD Vance, and if they don’t I actually need to talk to them. But personally, I have friends who love me and acquaintances who will not vote for me. That doesn’t make them bad people.”

“And you can’t; This is my important advice; Whether you vote for me, vote for Donald Trump, or vote for Kamala Harris, don’t throw away family members and lifelong friendships. Politics is not worth it. And if we follow that principle, I think we will bridge the divide in this country.”
