A juror serving during Plum And Lyle Menéndez The first trial for the murder influenced the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s decision to seek resentencing for the brothers.

George Gascon announced recommendation As interest in the case increased again, a decision was made to reduce their sentences on Thursday, October 24.

I’m talking to Australians “Kyle and Jackie O’s Show” the day the announcement was made, Hazel ThorntonJuror 9 in the Menendez brothers’ first murder trial said he supported the condemnation.

“I think this is a great step in the right direction and it’s been a long time coming,” Thornton told the radio show, but said he did not support a new trial. “I think a new trial would be terrible. I think the right thing to do is to get angry at them.”

He continued: “Of course, we still have to wait and see what the judge will do, and there is no information on what the judge will do. But I think it’s great that the prosecutor recommended resentencing.

The Menéndez brothers’ case came to the fore again after the release of Netflix’s mini series monsters and documentary Menéndez Brothers. Erik, now 53, and Lyle, now 56, were found guilty of murdering their parents. José And Kittyat their home in Beverly Hills, California, in 1989, when the siblings were 18 and 21, respectively. In an interview with the radio show, Thornton also shared his views on the brothers, explaining that he occasionally talks to them on the phone.

“People ask me; Would it be a problem if they moved in with me? And I say, sure, why not? “The community wouldn’t be in danger if they got out,” Thorton said.

“You’ll probably find this hard to believe, but they are so kind. They are very nice. They are very smart. They have a sense of humour. “One of the reasons why Gascón recommends resentencing is that they lived an exemplary life in prison.”

He continued: “They helped rehabilitate other prisoners so they could get out, even though they had no hope of getting out themselves. And they did all kinds of things (other things). They educated themselves. “They participated in and created prison reform projects and actually grew and matured in prison.”

Thorton added that he only saw small fragments. Netflix series and refuses to watch it in its entirety due to concerns about its accuracy.

“I don’t think that’s true and I haven’t actually seen it. “I boycott,” he said. “I saw people sending me clips. I saw many scenes that did not represent Lyle and Erik to the best of my knowledge. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of truth in the series. It just means I don’t have nine hours to spend editing.”
